FasterEFT YouTube videos and subtitles

The FasterEFT YouTube video channel, previously called HealingMagic, is a great resource for spreading the method throughout the world. YouTube is a great resource and has quite powerful subtitling resources. Here I want to collect some things that can be used.

Here is a  a document telling how we worked with subtitles: You are welcome to make suggestions, changes, questions in this document. I can easily use them or restore it.

How can we use subtitles that exist, even for other languages

This one is pretty accurate but there were some small changes made in the winter of 2014. I’ve added some annotations  about those changes and hope to make a new video soon.  If you click anywhere in the video player (or maximize it to fullscreen) you can comfortably start and stop the video with the SPACE bar. Nice if you are having a problem keeping up with the text. You can also chose to run the video slower, by choosing SPEED in the settings (gear) menu, and choosing 0.5 or 0.25.

A more up to date (jan 2018) version (but with Swedish sound) is here   and with English here

How can we make more subtitles?

There is a Facebook group for coordinating efforts to make FasterEFT subtitles: Fastereft Subtitles group

Making English subtitles might seem unnecessary since the videos are in English (sort of 😆 ). But English subtitles are very useful in many ways:

  1. For hearing impaired English speakers
  2. For English speakers that are not used to Oklahoma USA dialect
  3. As a useful base for immediate  usable, though imperfect, autotranslations to MANY other languages
  4. As base for those making proper human translations to other languages
  5. (possibly to make a thoughly searchable database of the verbal content)

So even if you only know English you can be a big help for the FasterEFT YouTube video subtitles.

If you know other languages you are very welcome. Cleaning up an autotranslation from English can be quite easy.

Here is an example of how one can work with subtitles.

How can I embed a video in my homepage with subtitles in my language?
ouTube changes every once in a while but this (way och forcing subtitles in a specific language)  has worked:

  • You can also choose a caption language for the embedded video. To specify the caption language for the video that you’d like to embed, just add &hl=fr&cc_lang_pref=fr&cc_load_policy=1 to the video’s embed code. Here, hl sets the language for the player menu, cc_lang_pref sets the language for the captions shown in the video, and cc_load_policy=1 makes captions on by default. fr represents the ISO 639 language code for French. You can look up 2-letter language codes in the ISO 639-1 standard.

How do the viewers use subtitles on YouTube?

I have made some videos about this. YouTube keeps changing things. Here is a playlist from 2018 about that (but it only has a speaker text in Swedish)
f anyone begs me to make an English version, I will probably make one pretty fast.

The one below is from 2014 and in English and has a lot of details about searching and filters and is edited with ”pan and zoom” so it should be quite visible even on small screens.  Unfortunately, the sound is out of sync with the video in a lot and the layout of YouTube menus etc has changed a lot since then.

For people needing a transcription of a video with spoken Swedish there is a service that makes a SRT (subtitle file with time codes):
